- Stock #[removed phone] - A RARE FIND, MAY BE ONLY ONE LEFT FLOATING AND RUNNINGThis 1964 Chris-Craft was one of eleven metal-hulled boats built in 1964 and 1965. This Roamer Commodore will need a lot of work. For the boat enthusiast, who looks to collect Chris-Craft, this Roamer Commodore fits into the category of antique and classic. A new owner could definitely enjoy providing the painting and chipping and all other restoration items to make the boat personal. The owner reports that the boat is mechanically sound with its re-powered twin Perkins diesels, and does include a GPS. The boat is equipped with a 3000 watt generator and water heater. It has air conditioning, contains two heads, and a shower. However, the boat has been sitting, so the owner is not certain on the functionality of the items on the boat. For sleeping accommodations, there are two single berths in the rear and two double berths forward. So this cruiser can take a family for a weekend or a week quite comfortably.A post was found about this 1964 Roamer Commodore in the Chris Craft forum. Post: Mon Feb 21, [removed phone]:20 pm. The post was edited to protect owner's privacy, and here are the remarks: "I have a 1964, 38 cc roamer, steel hull, not sure of its pedigree.I have owned it for several years and did a six week trip a few years ago with my wife from here in SW FL...it came from Chicago about 10 years ago..it has been re-powered with a pair of 236 Perkins, has a rear cabin with 2 single berths and a head with shower, 2 more double berths forward with a nice galley down and forward head. I replaced a lot of wood and some steel, really a very pretty boat."This Christ Craft 1964 would be a restoration project of a rare antique and classic boat. Please submit any and ALL offers - your offer may be accepted! I did a lot of research into this vessel. There is not a great deal of information about the boat available. The posts that were found indicate she has been cared for by previous owner. We know it came from Chicago sometime around 2001. Looks like a lot of her life she has been in fresh water.
If you like Chris Craft boating history, here is a chance to own a living, floating timepiece that is in good condition.
From Chris Craft forum, March 02, 2011 edited by me to protect owner's privacy. "She has been re-powered with a pair of 236 Perkins, goes at 8 or so knots, 1500 rpm, burning about 3 gallons an hour. Sitting behind my house on the Caloosahatche River in fresh water. I am now pulling her every 2 years, was doing 1 when I first got her about 7 years ago and replaced some steel every time but last time out was o.k.,so I will pull her next year, cost about $1000.00 to pull, get the bottom done and back in."
